After being admitted to a recognized institution in Israel, we recommend starting your visa application process as soon as possible.
A/2 Renewable One-Year Student Visa
Most students receive an A/2 Student Visa, which is valid for one year. This renewable visa allows students from abroad to study in Israel. It is not possible to work in Israel with a Student Visa. Please check your country’s diplomatic mission to Israel regarding country-specific application steps. In most cases, you will need the following:
- A travel document (such as a passport) valid for the intended time you will be in Israel, plus an extra six months after you intend to return home from Israel
- Two passport photographs
- A completed visa application
- A letter of acceptance to a recognized institution
- Proof of your ability to pay the academic institution and to be sustained financially during your time in Israel
- The visa fee payment
B/2 Renewable Visitor’s Visa for Short Term Programs
If you are planning on a short term program (three months or less), you may receive a B/2 Visitor’s Visa. This is issued to all visitors upon arrival in Israel, or through a local diplomatic mission or consulate before departing. Tourist visas may be renewed at the Israeli Ministry of the Interior for a fee, although the duration of your stay will be determined by the Border Police. It is not possible to work in Israel with a Visitor’s Visa.
If applying for a Visitor’s Visa at a diplomatic mission, bring the following with you:
- A travel document (such as a passport) valid for at least six months after you intend to leave Israel
- A photocopy of your travel document
- Two passport photos
A completed visa application - A financial statement showing you can afford your stay in Israel
- Entrance and departure airline tickets
- The visa fee payment
