Parking in the city is permitted in parking lots or adjacent to sidewalks with certain restrictions.  There are two parking systems for parking alongside the city's sidewalks:

  • The Color System, which determines along which sidewalks parking is permitted or prohibited.
  • The Zone System, which determines who can park along certain sidewalks free of charge (residents of the zone), and who has to pay to park.

There are two main parking signs in Tel Aviv:

1. Restricted Parking Signs: indicating that parking is available only for residents with a parking permit at certain hours -  for English version click here.

2) Regular Parking Signs: indicating that parking is available for the general public (payment required at certain hours) -for English version click here.

Parking regulations in place since 2012:

  1. We have enabled Tel Aviv-Yafo residents with a parking sticker to park their vehicles all across the city without payment in regular parking spaces (blue and white) and in accordance with road signs. For more information, click here.
  2. We have doubled the amount of  “close to home” parking lots.
  3. We have increased discount rates to 75% (instead of 50%) in the municipal “Achuzot Ha’hof” parking lots. (The University Parking Lot, the Carmel Parking Lot, the Golda Parking Lot, and the Beit Adar Alef Parking Lot are not part of the new arrangement, and their discount rate for Tel Aviv-Yafo residents remains 50%.)
  4. We have added free of charge night parking lots for owners of relevant parking stickers.

The Zone System

In order to provide free parking to city residents, the city has been divided into several parking zones:

  • During the day, between 9:00am and 5:00pm, residents with a parking sticker on their vehicle can park in all permitted parking spaces across the city, free of charge. Non-residents must pay for parking.
  • Afterwards, between 5:00pm and 9:00am the following day, parking is permitted to residents of the parking zone who have a matching parking sticker on their vehicle. Non-residents are not allowed to park their vehicles, unless indicated otherwise by road signs in the beginning of the street.
